The Chinese Online Market

Posted on May 31, 2007. Filed under: Search Engine News |

I’ve been reading alot lately about the Chinese on-line market. It seems that a stat Rand from SEOmoz posted on his site,

“Internet Usage in China vs. US:

154 Million Regular Internet Users in the United States – 68% of the total population
150 Million Regular Internet Users in China – 10.5% of the total population
XX Million Mobile Internet Users in the United States – XX% of the total population
450 Million Mobile Internet Users in China – 31.5% of the total population”

is making the rounds opening up everyones’ eyes about the potential gold mine over there. HELLO! WAKE UP PEOPLE! Of-course there’s a gold mine. it been talked about for the past 5 years with out end and only now your coming to realize it?!!

Get your butt over there and figure out how to capitalize on it. I recently advised a friend of mine Eric Haddad who is starting a really cool web biz over at ALL.com (about to be in alpha) that he should look at what happened with Orkut ( a Google owned social networking site). They built the site intending it for the US market, but it was a dud at home a great success in Brazil.

So I told ERic to make his site friendly to both the US and China in a bid to hedge his bet that the site will be a success. Let’s see if he listens.

Ciao for now!
